Thinking off going to the land of the long white cloud to die quietly. Does anybody have experience of sending old wooden boats on freighter. She is 23'x 8'x 9', I am too wonky to sail all the way!
No personal experience, but I know the owner of a Vertue that came the other way, Oz/GB, a few years back, and I work for one of the big shipping lines.
I would be cautious about shipping as deck cargo on a containership; they mostly go via Suez and the Red Sea and a boat on deck will be "roasted".
You might try the Bank Line, who serve NZ via Panama (much gentler climate!) out of the Humber. They still use multipurpose ships rather than cellular container ships and your boat will be small enough to stow in a tween deck rather than on deck - much kinder. (I have no connection with them, btw.)
If you are Hawich based, PM me for the name of a firm of surveyors who are good at advising on crating and securing.
