Hi,
So I'm at the stage where I have to decide between 2 used boats.
Both are the same age (2000) & generally the same design & size ( 22ft Cuddy / Small Cabin Cruiser) .
Condition & equipment for both is near identical.
One is a Fletcher with a 3.0L Mercruiser Petrol & Apha Gen2 stern drive which has lived in fresh water & has around 700hrs.
The other is a Gobbi 21 Cabin with a Evinrude 115 E-Tec Outboard, mixture of fresh & salt water use with only 90hrs.

Whichever I choose will be used in UK Coastal Waters & stored on the trailer at home & either appear to meet my needs.

Fletcher I know as a brand but there's the petrol inboard/stern-drive question mark.

Gobbi I am not really familiar with but it has the Outboard advantage.

Looking for some guidance, advice, help in making a decision.

Many Thanks

I would go for the outboard powered boat. Modern o/bs are very economical, powerfula nd quiet. With the advantage that you can tilt the motor right up to get prop etc out of the water to avert weed growth etc. Plus you hopefully can flush the o/b easily with a hose. I think ioboard outboard legs are out of fashion. ol'will

If its got to be petrol and you are in anyway bothered about the cost and time implications of mantainace and servicing ........its an O/B every time in this instance.

I had a friend who had a 25fter with Volvo vee8 stern drive with contra rotating props. A dealer exchanged this for a big outboard. Boat outcome was vastly improved on quietness speed and fuel economy. ol'will
