\'Decent\' marine speakers

Time to change my speakers on my soft top. Want to get 'waterproof' ones.

Currently have 2 x 6" (Overall diameter) with a 115mm cut-out

There's plenty of cheapo ones on eBay but I suspect theyre the same as my current naff quality ones. I want lots of loud and crisp sound at speed. I've installed an amp so now all I need is the decent speakers.

Inspire me!

our princess 440 has pioneer marine in radar arch for ten years and still look and sound perfect, try having outside speakers inclined outwards at the top as it helps keep rain out and mask over in winter with vents at bottom

Depends how much you want to pay and what amp is going to drive them.

Sonance are excellent speakers...if you want to spend £200
a pair!, otherwise there are several other choices upwards of £80 if you want good quality and value.

It's all relative really.

Budget would be around the £100 mark, being driven by a 400w 2 channel amp. Don't want anything bigger tbh, no point in putting a 1000w amp on 50w RMS speakers

I've come to the conclusion that i'll have to buy 6.5" (Originall had 6") to get a decent set of speakers. Not a problem as I have the space to cut the extra half inch.

I think i'll go for the above as I they have built in tweeters. Can anyone recommend these? Are they a decent price? Can anyone get me anything better for that price, or see a place with those speakers for cheaper?

I also can't see if these are 4/8 Ohm. Currently have 4Ohm and they work so guess I have to stick fo 4Ohm?

Cheers in advance

Nick,
Sorry just noticed your post. These look good at 75w RMS, think i'll actually go for them to heck with it. They are 4Ohm (Found the manual) so they should work fine

-EDIT- Odd, they're quoted at 60w RMS here => http://www.rocktheboataudio.com/html/31991.html /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I'm actually going to go for these thanks for the recommendation Nick. Although they claim 75wRMS (Although another site says 60w RMS) but even at 60w RMS it's fine for me I reckon. I can get them for £76 delivered all in (I'm in Ireland so extra delivery). Even from the US they work out almost the same price, so I reckon I won't do better than that

I bought these JBL MS6200

which were very good value and sound good
