Had a little trip out today for a shake down.

After lots of work getting all systems working it was time for a blast to see if I could find anything else to fix.

My first time getting her out of the marina which is tight to say the least. Handled great so no drama.

The entrance to Douglas Harbour with the bridge down.

The Mannanan in dock on standby for the winter

Treated to smooth seas exiting the outer harbour

Got to have a wake shot!

Some striking coastline around these parts

Douglas Head

A lovely morning all in all.

The boat performed flawlessly. Touch on the slower side but very happy with 20 knot cruise at 2300 revs. Needs a good bottom clean which is next on the list.

Not bad piccies for a phone.

Great pics and looked like a great day out. Even down here in the SoF I prefer winter boating, empty seas that are like glass

Very nice. I've not seen any pics or magazine articles about IoM boating so keep them coming. I'm sure there must be some lovely coves and anchorages?

:encouragement: Nice to see someone is out. Today was a great day, but I'm already on the hard. Do you ever make your way down to Conwy or N Wales?

Early days yet and this is my first boat here that is up to that kind of trip but defo on the list along with west coast of Scotland. Getting everything just right so I can do some adventure cruising. Serviced the Genset yesterday so SWMBO can have a hairdryer in some remote cove. Priorities and all that

Happy wife happy (boating) life. Give us a heads up when you do make your way down. There is a great community here but I can offer my services in avoiding pirates and other ne'er do wells that inhabit the Menai, all for a small token from your funbox. Cheap at the price and all that :encouragement:

I am taking a little boat from Devon to Oban next week, so I hope it stays that way!

Pete

Will do BruceK. Just keep kwackers away, he just wants to talk bikes :):):)

Pete, are you stopping at IOM? Forecasts are a little up and down next week at the mo.

That might be difficult. Captain Ahab when he gets a visa to enter Conwy has chosen my pontoon to bash in his rubber duck filled with recruits. Probably because I'm a soft touch and feed the wildlife

do you still have to go the other side the island to get voucher for diesel pump or can you get it in douglas again ,roy

I'm not sure to be honest. Residents get a card from Peel which is pre charged with fuel and used at the pump in either Douglas or Peel.

I thought a temporary card system was in place for visitors but I can double check with the harbour lads.

Fuel is a bit of a pain here. Both pumps are in the outer harbours with the Peel one drying out LW +/- 2-3 hours. Douglas is a ladder climb too. Not ideal. You can't have tanker delivery and petrol is a big no no. How the poor buggers with petrol boats manage I have no idea. Barrels under the cover of darkness I guess.

Congrats on the new boat P, hope yourself and family enjoy her for many seasons to come. Thanks for posting photos also, rarely see much of the IoM harbours and anchorages. A number of years ago a forum member did some posts, from memory he was an older man, but loved his boating.
