I've just removed a Decca Yacht Navigator III from the boat I bought a few weeks ago.

Does it have any value or should I just put it in the bin?

I've got one of these as well. I'd assumed it was cr*p and just taking up space / weight allowance. I had a look at it but it's got some hefty power cables attached so I haven't removed it yet. Do you really think someone will pay money for it?

I have just taken a Decca off the boat... it was taking space I wanted for something far more useful (gin optic).
While the unit has no use as far as I am aware, the aerial is worth hanging onto. By-pass all the gubbins in the base box and they can be used for other applications.

Hoarding

Having read the thread, I now begin to understand why I can't get into my blasted shed. Thank you Gentlemen, - I will attempt to hoard less and get rid of the unnecessary - any offers for my Kapok Suit?

Mine is now a wall decoration in my father's small 'cabin style' bedroom. Everything has a use somewhere. It sits alongside an old RDF set!

Bin the Decca, but strip the gubbins out of the arial and replace it with a Mtr (I think) of wire, to make a VHF FM arial. I think I saw that in PBO some time back.
As for the RDF - That got cut up to make a hand bearing compass.
