I have a Phillips AP Decca Navigator and aerial. Also Stowe Dataline wind direction/speed, depth and log instruments, these are linked via NMEA. Have Autohelm ST100.
Currently only use the navigator as battery meter.
Is there any use to the Decca Navigator and its aerial?
Is there any point in trying to wire my GPS NMEA output into the Navigator (getting the Autohelm to stear to a point of wind etc?).
Many thanks for your thoughts
Nick

Sad though isn't it? My NavStar doesn't even have a voltage meter. Still, its joined the (sad!) collection of old computers (ZX80; BBC, even IBM......) in the museum (or as SWMBO would say cluttering the loft). And the vacuum-flourescent display was far superior to an LCD...and it had an alphanumeric keypad........!!

Sadly its of no use, with mine I shorted the pcb in the ariel and use it for the domestic radio, works very well. The instrument panel is powered up at home and is used to pre-plan passage information ie, distances and bearings, and have found it to be of advantge to do so prior to loadind the gps, or in your case leave it for voltage reading. sorry but thats all it will do. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

doesn't it hurt to throw away electronics you paid loadsamoney for not too long ago?

today i'm having a purge of my storeroom and i've decided to throw out old computer gear from the last 10 or so years-

2GB disk (£800- size of a shoebox)
256MB disk (£200)
laser printer (£1200- toner cartridges no longer available)
9.6kb modems
etc. etc

mind you i'm typing this on a 400MHz PC that set me back a grand not all that long ago, you couldn't give it away today.

funny that you still see people trying to flog Seafix RDFs at boat jumbles. then there are VHFs that only do a few channels because you have to add crystals.

The odd one out is my £60 garmin handheld GPS that would cost more than double to replace!
