Just picked this up from the local Radio station.

"Dream 100 - News in the Essex area
Dream's learnt one man has been killed and another seriously injured working on the Greater Gabbard windfarm 18 miles off the North Essex coast.

The two crew members were on a boat out at the site yesterday.

Both were brought back to Harwich International Port and the injured man is now being treated at Colchester General Hospital.

We don't yet know how the man died or why the other was injured but Dutch authorities are now investigating.

Once complete, the Greater Gabbard windfarm will be the world's largest offshore windfarm."

Always sad to hear of deaths and injuries under these circumstances and sympathy must go to family and friends. Looking at the weather maps the conditions in the North Sea must have dire yesterday.

The last bit of the quote made me think.

The output from Greater Gabbard is quoted at about 500 MW. With the projected target of 33GW of output from Offshore Wind Generation. Our Coast could suffer from over 60 wind farms of this size by 2020! We can probably expect a few more such stories.

"Current targets are for 33GW of offshore wind by 2020." (from the Airtricity website)

Have these already been sited, is there a map somewhere?

Regards
Russ
