The founder of Broom boats has died.

....and to his credit never a follower of fashion and also a builder of quality ,his command bridge designs were very popular and his boats could go virtually anywhere wether it was offshore or far upstream on many waterways.
Never a boat for the "arriviste" but the boat you normally ended up with after going through all the floating glitterballs on the market.:)

+1

Sorry to hear this. Our sympathies to his loved ones for their loss. His superb product has given our family so much sublime pleasure and adventure in safety. He certainly built boats to his own very high standard which reeked practicality and comfort for the climate in these isles.

Sad, but as always inevitable!

His legacy will live on for possibly another century, as the existing boats will last at least fifty years, if not more!

Great boats, I think a marque most River people aspire to one way or another, if not the very best, then at least the benchmark...

it does not say they invented it.... just says it is Distinctive, they made the first deck house saloon in 1978 as said in the website, of my head Ferretti did it in 1973, and Franchini should be in around 1975

anyways this is a bit a thread drift now, considering the legacy Broom left to British boat building....

Very sad news indeed. Being on our second Broom I can only echo the comments already made about the quality of the boats that Brooms built under his stewardship. RIP and condolences to his family and friends.
