We've just had a great weekend in Cherbourg - first time in our own boat - with 14 other boats. Apart from myself there were three crew - SWMBO, a work colleague (who were both crossing the channel for the first time) and a very experienced yachtsman who is a legend in his own lunchtime.

It is the last person about whose actions I am writing to you, Deirdre. Not only is he a very competent sailor who gave me confidence in my own navigational ability, but also excellent company on board and ashore. He is the sort of guy who has the temperament and perserverence to strip the teak off his own decks.
To see him helm the boat with one hand whilst eating a full cooked breakfast with the other, all just as the breeze has freshioned, was a sight to behold.

The point that concerns me is that ....... well...erm..... he had a pair of his wife's pymamas in his sleeping bag !! Is this normal behaviour for men sailing unaccompanied, and something that I have been missing out on for all these years? If I can't take any of SWMBO's night wear, what else should I be using as a comforter?

Thank you in advance, Deirdre, for your thoughtful and careful response.

Yours
Sleepy of Hampshire

Competent crew

What other description can there be for a lady who can balance four cooked breakfasts (full monties) in one hand, whilst assisting in tacking the boat. When she is (as she will undoubtedly become) a yachtmistress, she will - of course - be able to do the same without dropping the buttered bread over the side.

He says it is his SWMBOs night attire. You can only take his word for it. Fleecy jammies or lacy lingerie?

Regards

Re: Deidre\'s Photo Casebook

Sorry Krystal, nothing doing.

I fink you have to post a link to website, rather than paste an image - but I have never done it myself.

Re: breakfast receptacles

would such a feat be made possible (such that the monties do not slither hither and thither) when placed within a well known empty pie tin receptacle?
