300w inverter used on TV with 80w rating whined for first 10 seconds after power on with battery fully charged. 6 month old battery now u/s as is inverter which only produces output in 3 second pulses. Once the tv was warm the problem dissappeared even after it was switched off for a short time. Was this a faulty product or have I missed something.

Na,

There's nothing on in the Summer worth watching.

When a TV is initally powered, it will draw a much higher current than its' power rating suggests (surge current). However your invertor was rated at over three times the steady state power for the TV, so is a bit of a puzzler. Does your invertor produce a sine or quasi sine wave output? If not it could mean the 300W is more theoretical than actual, but even so I think you should have been O.K.
