Can anyone please recommend a reasonable priced supplier for the old style chunky batteries for my old 18v kit, also same criteria but for adaptor for new style batteries into old kit.
Thanks
Keith
If you can open up the battery box you can see what kind of battery was fitted. The cells can then be replaced individually. If it is old my guess would be NiCad or NiMH at 1.2 volts per cell. (so 14 or 15 cells) These 2 types are interchangeable.
However if it had lithium cells then there will only be 5 cells so need replacement lithium types. Do replace NiCad with same type and lithium with same type as the battery charger will be dramatically different. Indeed dangerous with wrong batteries. Actual physical size for cells is not so critical. Possibly for NiMH called Sub C or 4/5Sub C and for lithium possibly 18650. All names to look for on Ebay. ol'will
I was very impressed with the service I got from the Portsmouth store of www.elliotts.uk (PO4 8ER) - might be worth giving them a call.
They beat by 20% or so (£30) the cheapest price I could find online for a cordless drill. Admittedly it was a Makita I bought from them, but I think they stock all brands.
Well that might well apply, but not in my case. New similar Makita drill, about 200. New NiMH batts to replace the shot Nicads, £20 and they use the same charger. New lease of life.
So for me this worked. YMMV.
