DC supply noise?

I have a couple of devices on the boat that don't work well when we're connected to shore power (at least that's what I suspect)

The NASA Navtex unit doesn't receive much when we're in a marina. It works well enough offshore. It could be that my home marina (Shotley) is in a transmission shadow, but I'm very suspicious that I seem to suffer similarly at all marinas. The boat would generally be connected to a shore supply in a marina.

Similarly, the FM radio doesn't pick up much in a marina either. We don't use it much, partly because it doesn't get much, partly because the stations reset after each battery isolation and partly because the signals that it does receive are very noisy. I confess I haven't tried rigorously checking the situation regarding performance with the shore power connected and disconnected (and I'm away from the boat atm so can't readily do so) but coupled with the Navtex symptoms I'm suspicious that my CTek M300 charger produces a noisy DC supply (isn't that part of the charging regimes anyway?)

So, I'm minded to investigate some suppression/dc filtering. When I'm next down, I'll put a o'scope on the FM radio and Navtex dc supply, but does anyone have any experience of going through the same issues?

Navtex seems pretty rubbish in marinas anyway, all those masts probably. Not so sure about FM radio though. I have a ham radio and my sterling charger can be very noisy on the HF spectrum but seems OK up at FM. So the charger could be making navtex worse but the FM I'm not so sure about.

Fridges can be noisy bugg*rs as well.

Good luck
