Day trips from Brighton ?

My wife & I are taking the boat from Southampton to Brighton Marina (yes, I know YM slagged it off) for 3-4 days this weekend as we have friends who live there who we would like to see.

If we want to go out for 3-4 hours, is there anywhere to go other than out to sea and back again ?

Unless you have a fast boat, theres nowhere to actually go, unless eastbourne, maybe, yuck!

You could look at the cliffs if you go one way, or the piers if you go the other

You can just get to Newhaven in that time, or Shoreham. Neither match the quality of stopovers in the Solent though.

Went into Brighton for the first time this week. The shower/toilet block is a disgrace, but the water was hot.
Saving grace - a good pizza restrant/takeaway almost on the doorstep.

Yes. The pizza is good, so is the asda and the easy approach is a big relief if you're cream crackered and have just plugged a 24 ft boat from Le Harvre (heartfelt this!). But the next day you look around and think, so why wouold someone keep a boat here?

No, nowhere.
Brighton is like a motorway service station on the M11 A lousy place to stay but of use on a long trip.
If you must stay then take a ride into town on the electric railway and be a tourist for a couple of days.
