I need to tow a small boat back from Newort IOW to Langstone at the weekend and am wondering whether to add some day shapes as it could be busy out there during Bank holiday w/end. Suggestions please

Thanks

Edit: Tug is 20ish foot works dory and towee is 18ft open fishing boat.

There are lights for towing at night (I can never remember all the details except for the general idea of a yellow stern light) but I don't believe there is a specific day shape for towing except a diamond sticking up above a submerged object to show that it's there. You might show the diamond-between-yer-balls of RAM, but strictly speaking that only applies if the tow is so cumbersome that you can't change course, and that's probably not really the case here.

Personally I probably wouldn't bother unless I expected to be out after dark, and then I'd look up the rules for towing lights.

Nothing required under 200 metres.

Worth remembering you're not RAM under the ColRegs just because you're towing unless you are genuinely are restricted in your ability to manouvre, in which case you'll need the ball-diamond-ball. I'd guess you don't.

Edit: just seen prv has covered RAM too.
