Hello all, does anyone out there have any experience of the correct Primer to apply to racing marks ( the plastic 45 gallon drum kind ), and then a suitable day-glo, 'to help me to find them' type of paint. We have agreed to make our marks more visible this year.

Thanks in anticipation.

No experience but I imagine the drums are made of that softish molded plastic. This is notoriously hard to get epoxy or polyester to stick to. I think I would just try you day glo paint straight on. Either water based or oil based enamel should do. If it all comes off over the season then try a primer next winter. good luck with the new upcoming season. olewill

B&Q sell a plastic primer for people painting their plastic garden chairs. It's an aerosol and says it should be applied to clean, well sanded plastic.

It might help the day-glo paint adhere.

But biggest problem with day-glo paint is it seems to fade so quickly.

The alternative would be to stick some vinyl plastic to the barrels.
