They reckon the Nothern end (ie Puffin) is higher than the Southern end.
Your picture now proves it /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Wasn,t this AM, surely /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Great piccie TT Old Boy!
Thanks Kwaker, taken three weeks ago, Sunday 19th April, only just got the picture from my Pal, the still cold mist looked great at the time and this shot really caught it together with the rising sun.
So there must have 3 of you?
Unless the other wake was someone belting to Menai.
About going up and down the Straits.
If you talk to the 'Old Boys'.
Going from Puffin to Caernarfon is 'going down'
Tother way is 'Going Up'.
It hactually does have a sensible meaning.
Too far into the night to educate now.
Will enlighten and explain on another seminaral eve.
How did you get on with the wiper episode?
I did 'meet' your boat a few days after your Post, whilst doing summat to Lawsey's boat 'Blue Moon' , saw the offending wiper.
Was tempted to fiddle with it but was wary I would be caught on Camera /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Two boats on the water at the time, the wake in background is mine, I was circling round for the picture.
I look forward to your explanation of up and down the Straits. The boat ahead of us a large 50ft plus sports cruiser creates a staning wave just over cheese rock in the Swellies, have you ever seen that before, they were 15 minutes ahead of us leaving Caernarfon, we didn't catch up until Bangor and the wave was stood when we passed through a calm ish Swellies?
Yes, got the wiper off, I did update on here, I drilled the casting several times as suggested on here, squirted WD into the new holes and it eased off the next day, thanks.
Yep, under certain conditions at certain spots in the Swellies this phenoneman can happen.
Tiss narrow int it and the wave has nowhere to go fer a bit sometimes.
The wave can get 'held up' by the current and the undulating bottom.
It's quite a while since I had the pleasure of watching the above /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Anyway no wonder you didn't catch the 50 footer up, buggering about and going round in circles /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I don't know you guys............ All this blatant unseamanlike behaviour, causing unnecessary wash, burning up all that fuel.
Probably didn't even tie the right knots when you got back to the marina either!!!!!!!!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
P.S. Nice shot by the way /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Here's one from the other end of the Straits. Taken at Abermenai on BH Monday. Only about half of the fleet is in the picture, but Snowden summit is visible, about 1/3rd from the left, just over the mast of the boat 4th from left (or right!)
The sand bank is just awash and the tide falling, you must have moved on shortly after the picture was taken?

Nah, I sat there 3 days in total, reading, eating, drinking & cleaning!
We were quite close to the shingle spit & were aground for an hour or two each tide until we shifted into the pool Monday pm so we could leave Tuesday anytime.
Very pleasant weekend despite a minor emergency that ended up with us getting rescued by Detente (Moody in distance on extreme right) when we lost all the oil through the oil filter seal.
