I have seen boats with a range of different davits other than the standard Whittal or Simpson Davits, but have been unable to locate any information on the net as to what else might be available. I am looking for davits suitable for transon fitting to a Fairline Sunfury, and suitable for carrying either an inflatable or small rib with engine up to 15hp ie total boat/engine weight between around 80kgs and 120kgs.

Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks.

We had some made by a small engineering firm in 50mm box section steel, tailored to suit boat exactly, and then had them pwder coated. This process was so much cheaper than I had expected and the whole thing came out at under £150.

Take a trip round some of the industrial estates and you'll find no end of small firms willing to help.

<font color=blue>Whoa Barry. Carrying a dinghy on the back of a Sunfury ain't 'arf gonna slow you down some. Do you really need a dinghy or do you just fancy having one?

<font color=blue>It's the position in which you will carry it. Your arguement about one/two more people holds good if you have it upside down on the cabin roof, you however will be hanging it from your stern levering yourself deeper in the water in fact thus concentrating weight just where you don't want it.
