I have an automatic bilge pump controlled by a Davenport Bilge Bug switch. The company has sadly gone tits-up so info is no longer available.

Does anyone know how it is supposed to be wired into the pump/battery please? It has three wires, red, brown and black.

Does anyone even know how it works? It is not a float swtch but has what look like two electrodes protruding out the sides, do these connect if water covers them?

Many thanks.

Red = DC (fused 20A) battery + , Black = DC battery -, Brown = DC + to pump when switch activated, the already wired DC - in the manual switch side will take care of the return for the auto switch.

It works by sensing a current path across the probes when they are immersed, be careful it can carry enough current for your pump, if not then use a relay.
