Sorry if this has been done to death before, but need a Greek SIM card, mostly for data, for around a month starting October 23. Have marina contract, but reckon prepaid will be better for short time.(Will think about annual contract next year, when we go out there long term.) Have no idea how many megas or gigas I may need, except to say I explode my office Blackberry budget in less than a week. This time, the setup will be Android tethered to Samsung netbook. Any idea about best deals ar the moment, or do I just stroll into Germanos at the airport, like a lamb to the slaughter?

All the deals are similar. We have cosmote which seems to have the best coverage. It's 40 euros a month pay as you go for 5 gb. Apparently the cheaper packages won't allow skype which we use a lot. It's about a third less if you top up online but the payment part of the site is only in Greek. we use the SIMM in either an iPhone or their dongle.

Wind sim 1gb €18

We bought a pay as you go €5 SIM from a WIND store , specified that it was for data. Bought an unlocked 3G USB Modem (Huwei E220) It works well almost everywhere that there is a signal in Greece

We send a text "1GB" to the relevant WIND number "19595" having at least €20 credit on the card and get 30 days use for weather, emails and everyday surfing It has been the least painful experience. Given the often limited 3G availability we have never used 1GB within the 30 day window despite several episodes of the "Archers" (sad isn't it?)

Hope this helps
