I make no apology for posting this information here and only hope it might save someone some dosh.
Several organisations are writing to companies asking/demanding you register under the Data Protection Act and charging around £95. If you get the form you can easily be fooled into thinking they are from a government department.
<font color=red>THEY ARE BULLSIHT</font color=red>
So far I have identified the following:-

Data Protection Act Registration Service
Data Protection Agency Services Limited
Data Collection Enforcement Agency
DPA Registration Agency
Data Protection Act Registration Agency
Data Protection Registration Agency
The Department of Company Registration
Data Registration Agency
If you get one.. pass it to either your waste bin or to local Trading Standards Office.

Reminds me of the scam of sending direct to 'Accounts Payable' a so called renewal invoice to be re-registered in a trade directory. Sent to big corporates, and for the sum of 95 quid or so, wasn't worth the effort of finding original paperwork, so they just paid it. Netted someone a tidy profit.

Employment Law

There's a similar scam going on the HR field. Company rings up asking a junior member of your staff if you want a report on particular aspects of employment law "on 21 days approval". They don't know any better, so say yes. The report arrives and turns out to be a pile of badly photocopied bodily waste, accompanied by a carefully worded letter reserving the right to disinter you and rob your grave if you don't return the report to them or pay for it. You return it to them, they then deny ever having got it back (because you didn't send it recorded delivery, did you?) and threaten you with 21 gun legal action. So you pay up, 'cos it's cheaper.

B***ards...........
