G'day ballabunch,

I replaced a timber dash with black acrylic, looks fantastic and no maintenance, also not effected by moisture, worth considering...

Hope this helps

Something I did on my Mini which worked well was vanish the work and then after about a week I layer some resin on top, when that dried I sanded it down with various grades of wet and dry, then polished with rubbing compound-T-Cut-Polish and then finally wax.

Took ages but looked superb.

Never tried it, but Halfords sell sheets of the imitation stuff, burr walnut etc intended for mock boy racers dash boards. Not badly priced but don't think it comes in big sheets. £30 squid a roll.

There was a company at LBS that make 'em for the major boatbuilders. If you've got a catalogue may be in there, or perhaps do a search here. They'll make any size, shape, colour etc that you want with all the holes for your gauges and switches already cut out for you. Can't remember their name but I did post their name last year so if you search here it may give you a result. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but if you waqnt it let me know and I'll have a dig through the piles of junk I collected.
