Spent the weekend before last in Dartmouth and - rather to Mrs jhr's annoyance - spent some of my time taking photos of boats.

There was this old girl - a Fleur de Lys or similar

And a beautiful old raggie (so that our wind driven friends don't feel left out).

And the Dittisham Ferry

Very nice.

Unless I misunderstood, the Dittisham Ferry seemed to be bedding in a new or re-conditioned engine, so each crossing between Greenway and Dittisham involved a detour through the moorings, to get the hours up, presumably. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I agree she looked very nice, but she also looked brand new when we passed her as she was going out.

I wonder if anyone knows any more about her?

Yup, thats us...

Edit: hmm, you took that photo after "Big Spender" dragged its anchor and nearly collected a fishing boat. Fortunately someone notified Dart Nav in time...

I can remember standing on the Railway Station pontoon, waving at my girlfriend on board the ferry after a sweaty evening behind Dartmouth Castle.

1953 was a good year.

Yep, fluer de lys, looks a nice one as well.

Beautiful looking schooner as well, but there again I have a thing about schooners!!

Looks like a silver ormidale on the outside of the town/ferry jetty further down as well, I can normally spot them!
