Hi again!

So there's isn't a south coast forum ?

In need of red diesel and fresh water, preferably direct to the boat, but I can lug cans about If needs be, on the river dart just down from the cable ferry....

Any help or advice much appreciated!

Live aboard or fisherman? If not, irrelevant and I'll leave the sermon to others. Various freshwater taps along the quayside starting by Dartmouth Yacht Club pontoon. BP petrol station about a mile up the hill from the quay, junction of Townstal Rd and Milton Lane. Sainsburys one a bit further up.

You don't need fuel, you aren't going anywhere.

If he’s a live aboard, he may well need it for heating and power generation.

To the op, there is Also water on the waste barge, just upstream from the fuel barge, which might be open.

Id give Dart Nav a call on channel 11 or phone them 01803 832337

If you are a liveaboard, do you have a bicycle? If it is not more than a 2-3 miles then a garage for white diesel would be as cheap I suspect, Then strap a couple of cans to one side of the bike (round the saddle & handle bars) & walk on the opposite side. One can normally cycle there with the cans on the panier if empty. I generally do it that way with my fold up bike & 2/ 20 litre cans.
I also do it when collecting wife & daughter from a station & carry their heavy bags for them to the boat

Biggish supermarket and petrol station not that far away but up a very long steep hill. No level roads fuel supply if fuel barge not open.

As I understand it the Darmouth Fuel barge isn't there at the moment, or there but not working. No fuel on the Dart. Only option is the supermarket.
Might be worth ringing the number in their link. It's probably not worth their while manning the barge when their is so little demand. Wonder what the fisherfolk are doing.
The harbour office are always helpful.

Live aboard:)

Off to explore the freshwater taps in a bit! Thank you!
You might find white diesel a lot cheaper at the moment. ;)

That's a shame I can remember when red was cheaper?

There is a bus that goes very close to the Sainsburys but you cannot take full fuel cans on a bus if the driver sees he will not allow you on....
There is normally a fuel barge anchored in the river
There should be water on the rubbish/recycling pontoon

I'm lucky enough to be borrowing a car!

No but my heater runs on Diesel, and my engine is run for power if it's not a sunny day and I have a high demand task/ want a hot shower

And at some point I will want a fridge haha warm beer isn't nice!

I remember the days when I used to cycle everywhere (no lycra in sight) passed my test and haven't owned a bike since!

Thanks for the insight :)

There is a tap on the Fishermans pontoons on the Kingswear side, we’ve filled our tanks there during the day when the fishermen are away.

Brilliant!

Well I have found water on the town quay, if i had a hosepipe and a smaller boat i could get right in there and just fill up from the pipe!

For now I'm thinking i will just use lots of 5L cans and keep pouring away!

Thank you everyone!

Will ask the fisherman what they are doing for fuel!
