Walking my dog along the river going from the lock towards Kingston this morning about 10.30, two dogs attacked my dog and then the owner attacked me, shoving and swearing at me to leave his dogs alone - ironic but very upsetting. I have called the police but would suggest if you have experienced something similar, do report it. There were two men - an older bearded man and a younger short haired unshaven man in his 30’s - he was the one who was so aggressive. The two dogs were a pit bull type white and tan bitch who’s recently had puppies and a black younger dog sharpei like who according to his owner was 7 months old. They all came from a short narrow boat, dark blue with Astro turf on the roof. They went up river when they saw I was on the phone. Watch out for them and keep your dogs away if you do.
I have reported this information to the police.
An update - the police went to the boat which was found in Kingston. They knocked, were told to F-off and because common assault is only a summons, they had no right of entry and had to walk away. As a consequence I suspect nothing else will happen and he will probably get away scott free. Where’s the discouragement in that? Pity they couldn’t do him for drunk in charge of a boat (as he had certainly had a drink or three). Ah well - I tried!
If you see "a short narrow boat, dark blue with Astro turf on the roof" heading upstream you might want to keep your distance - on land and shore.
