More often than not items bought come with labels sticking to it. The tamper proof ones are a pain to remove so one tends to just leave them on.
Not a good idea if the item in question is a stainless steel hose clamp. Just found out that all clamps I inspected had crevice corrosion under the bar code labels. Appears to be the the labels attracts moisture whilst preventing oxygen to reach the steel. Some clamps where fully corroded away whilst the same clamp with the label off (I must have bothered to scrape on off at the time) was in perfect condition.
So get out the acetone and remove them.
