Sat in our cockpit with evening sun shining and covers down due to a little wind enjoying the evening sun, well this is essex. Nice table laid with decorative stainless bowl full of potpourri in the centre enjoying a discussion with friends. Then noticed a whiff of smoke in the sunlight coming from the bowl but unsure so moved round a bit for another look, still couldnt believe it so moved again. Definately smoke but unsure where from, then noticed the potpourri was catching alight, the sun reflecting on the inner bowl surface and being concentrated at the potpourri. Quickly discarded into the marina and then considered ourselves lucky as we leave the decorative bowl on display all the time. The bowls not sperical and is a complex ornate shape, so I gueass a million to 1 chance of this happening. Glad I was there at the time and wondered how I would have explained the situation to the fire brigade let alone the insurance company. Anyway got away with that one. Only mentioning it to make you aware of potential unforeseen dangers that can occurr. Hide your Stainless bowls and cut glass away. Could easily of happened when not onboard.

yep, we've had the same with the stainless steel sink in a windy 37, except for us it was a dry dishcloth left in it, that started to smoke.
