I have lost the danforth anchor off the front of my centaur twice, so it is now lashed with rope and very secure, however not available as quickly as I would necessarily like. How do others get round this problem, and are there any purpose built brackets that anyone knows of ?. Google doesnt seem to be much help.

Thanks

On my last boat i made 4 small wooden bocks one for each point about 1 inch square 1/2 inch thick then 2 for the stock one by the shackel the other 3/4 way up between the anchor head this i drilled and pushed through a short line to lash it down the anchor never moved and took seconds to undo and deploy!

I did the same for my CQR as well.

Mines in/on a deck moulding which is all very well until the anchor alters slightly. It now has blocks of wood supporting it, but it has always been lashed down. If in areas where I feel that it may be needed in a hurry the lashings are removed. So far no problems after nearly 30 years.

My last sail on a centaur was a long time ago but I remember that the danforth on that boat was held in it's standard mounting hooks by a couple of shock cord bands around the side horns and the hooks plus a further couple of hook ended short lengths attached to deck fittings directly beneath the pulpit and pulling down on the shackle. It was easy to free and deploy the anchor and afterwards to re-secure it.

No doubt the owner of that charter boat had suffered similar losses to yours.

Perko in the US makes a system that takes the Danforth, Fortress and other Danforth derivatives. ASAP Supplies carry Perko stuff in the UK but I don't see this in their catalogue.
I have often seen Danforths stowed in a piece of pvc pipe fastened to a pulpit or pushpit stanchion. The anchor shaft with attached chain goes in the tube, typically a foot or so long.

I somehow forgot to say the other two blocks were for the fluke points.Umm Italian wine at lunch time tutttt!!!!But in Elba do as they do!!!and it was offered(free)no good for posting later i see!
