Being based around the NW Caribbean, I have been meeting up with a few live-aboards from North America who have health insurance with DAN - Divers Alert Network. http://www.daneurope.org/home

DAN seems to work as there has been more than 1 incident in the past couple of years where DAN have sorted medical emergencies out for people that we know and the feedback is positive.

I have looked at the DAN Europe site as I have a UK passport and it appears they will provide 365 day cover and you do not have to be a diver.

I note that, as with most policies, if there is a reciprocal health arrangement in place in the country you are in with the UK, they expect you to use it but where we are this is not the case, the nearest place is Martinique or Guadeloupe

Has anyone had experience of their services or any comments to share?

DAN has a good rep within the diving community, most dive professionals use them for both health and indemnity insurance. My wife and I used them when we were active as professionals in the field. However, when looking at their medical cover for non diving incidents we decided that the cover limits were too low for the permiums involved and therefore decided not to continue our cover.
