There have been quiet a few threads about methods to prevent condensation forming under the berth mattresses. I am intrigued by the rubberised coir things. Can anyone give us an idea of how this material is actually fixed? Do you sew it onto the underside of the cushions or do you fix it to the top of the bunk? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Any recommendations?

As chrisc says, just cut it to size and lay it down. We have the expensive slats from the LBS which have been really excellent, since Jan 2005. BUT my side is getting a bit compressed, the bow in the wood is disappearing. It still works for anti-condensation but isn't as springy /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Quite a few people have bought the much cheaper systems from IKEA.

Even using ventair under berths, would still recommend and do lift cushions and ventair regularly, even daily when used in anything but high season to let the air really circulate.

Go to IKEA and buy the slat kit that slots together.
We paid £24.99 for a double kit, and laid it in the forecabin, just cutting each one to length. Cured the condensation and provided some support through the bow in the slat form.
Single berths were £19.99 I believe.
Even with cutting slats to length, I did it in a cold February morning.

I used IKEA slats as well, and used poppers to hold down the plastic side strips (which hold the slats) in a few places, thus being able to easily remove the whole lot if necessary for access under the berth. Worked a treat and were still going strong after 2 years when I sold the boat; even if they only last a few years just buy another pack from IKEA, they are cheap enough!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
