Just had our Moody 30 surveyed and we found some damp just ahead of the keel (Fin). We cut back the gel coat and filler to find a large plank of hard wood which looks as if it strengthens the keel attachment area. This wood is damp and we propose opening up the gel coat, allowing to dry and then making good. Keel support area looks good but we think there has been a little ingress of water round the keel joint allowing the wood to get damp. Any advice on whether this is the right course of action? How was this area of the boat laid up?
