Anybody got a cure for 'sweating' bed cushions ? The underneath side of cushions are constantly getting damp despite the fact that the cabin doesn't have any dampness in it. The cushions are lying on fibreglass. Could it be condensation ? Any cure? Cheers..

I suspect you are sleeping with inadequate ventilation but in answer to your question, cut cardboard to shape and it will solve the issue.

Change it once a year.

When I leave the boat after a weekend I put the single mattresses on their side. For the double mattress I lift it up and put a little plastic box in the middle of the mattress - this lifts the middle up and leaves one side 'up', this giving ventilation. I leave the heads window open and the door to ventilate the cabin. In the winter I do the same with the mattresses except keep all windows closed and use a heater and de-humidifier.

Ikea sell wooden mattress slats at a very reasonable price that can be cut down easily

Ours work perfectly at a cost of about twelve quid each (from memory)

Dry Mat (or similar) is good provided your bed has the right structure. It permits airflow under the matress and worked well on our previous boat, but is less successful on the new one - the matress in the master cabin is completely surrounded by the hull on one side and a wooden rail on the remaining sides - this extends a good inch up the matress and would effectively block the ventilation that the Dry Mat would provide.

After having similar problems and replacing mattress (with memory foam) we were given a tip to use carpet tiles as the bed sat directly onto fibreglass. Bought 10 from a carpet shop for a £1 each, used Velcro strips to stick them down so I can get access to the water tank if needed and no more issues 2 years later.
