Any body else surprised by the throttles being pushed straight to the wot position on a customers new boat?

what ever happened to not above 3/4 before a certain number of hours, or has it been fully run in any way?

Ever since I watched a Top Gear presenter showing how to drive a flybridge motorboat - "there is only one way to drive a boat like this - floor the throttles and let it rip" I have done the same and enjoyed every minute.............

Modern diesels do not require running in - running in the old way that is.

Assume already nice and warm and "run in". I am a huge Nelson fan, and Dale have kept the flag flying well....until this complete carbuncle!! Frankly I can't stand it. For whatever reason the helm design with that awful gap does offend.

Red, was that a tongue in cheek reference to the new TopGear program with Sq78, or is there another TG episode with a motorboat, in which case which one, cos I'd like to see it

In J Clarkson's defence btw, the Sq78 was nicely run in - 150 hours - and the owner was in charge at the lower helm

Firefly, yes indeed. Beautifully built no doubt with many admirable features but the dash design and the flat glass were disappointing

Why do people let MBM/MBY/whatever 'test' out their new boats? Not to sound greedy, but if i'd paid for a NEW boat, I want it just that way... I want my hands only on her (granted there'll be builders tests etc.)

Is there a financial incentive or something? An hour alone with one of the "Spot the Boat" ladies??

Don't get me wrong, we're all nice guys and I love having people on-board/stay etc... but MBM/MBY/whatever is a profit-seeking business that earns profits by publishing tests carried out on your NEW boat

Normally the buyers goes into it eyes wide open. The typical deal for buyer of hull 1 is that he gets a discount but the boat has 50 or whatever hours at delivery, from factory testing, photoshoots, and magazine tests. Nearly all magazine tests are on hull #1. If you want an untouched new boat, which is quite understandable, you can have hull #2 onwards and get exactly what you want

Aah, makes (logical) sense now, thanks for explaining.
