Hi,

I have been approached about producing a twice weekly, or even daily, sailing weather forecast video.

The idea would be to give a detailed forecast for the coming days, specifically for sailing in the UK (and eventually extending into Europe). If twice weekly a forecast would be issued on a Monday covering the week ahead and weekend, with an update on Thursday focusing on the weekend and into next week.

The videos do take time to produce, and my aim has always been to keep them free of charge. With your continued support I have been able to do this.

So, is the idea of a sailing weather video something your would welcome? Several of you have emailed and message already, so thank you for that.

The next stage is to try and find sponsors/advertisers, so if you have any thoughts, or perhaps could sponsor the videos yourself...I'm listening!

Thanks again to YBW.com for their continued support too.

Keep the sun shining!

Hi Simon,

As you are not overwhelmed with responses to your offer, I for one would find this forecast weather, either on a twice weekly or daily basis, really helpful especially an indication of how the winds and visibility will develop over a few days, whether sea breezes are likely to develop etc. It would also be really useful to extend the forecast to cover common cruising areas in N France, Brittany, Ireland etc.

Keep up the good work

Hi Simon,

I think this sort of video would be very useful. I do look at your other videos and have learnt a lot about forecasting from them - it's just a shame you seem to be good (and accurate) at forecasting strong winds at weekends!!!

A big vote from me.

Piddy.

Having only recently discovered your current weather videos, I would certainly be interested to see more sailing specific material. Daily would be interesting but, if that is too much effort, the weekends would be good - that is when most people sail, after all.

Another +1 from me. I suppose I am not alone in having to plan for going sailing as far in advance as possible, so an accurate forecast on Monday for the following weekend I what want for a weekend's jolly. Apart from winds, swell heights (if that's what they're called inshore) are of interest as well. Thanks for the forecasts, anyway. For sponsors, what about the Solent restaraunts and pubs as well? When the forecast is good, you could take on line bookings at the same time on commission.....

Great idea, I tend to monitor your output very closely as long trips approach, for instance off cross channel for the first two weeks of july so looking closely at all the models etc

+1

Have you thought about a test series for the holiday season - might be easier to find a sponsor for a defined period, i.e. 6-8 weeks over the peak season and then see how responses are...

Thanks for so many replies everyone. As well as the comments here many of you have taken the time to email me.

It seems this is a 'go-er', now all we need is a sponsor!

Watch this space.

Simon
