Dagger Board Position

I've been looking around for inspiration where to put the dagger board on my tender when I convert it to sail.
It appears that some designers have put their one far forward in line with the mast. This seems a little peculiar to me. Is there any advantage to this?

Presumably the centre of the dagger board should be roughly in line with the cetre ofeffort of the sail(s), or perhaps a little ahead of that point, to avoid lee helm. I'm using intuition, not knowledge here, so I stand to be corrected.

Again based on intuition, but I suspect the board would have to go pretty close to the sail plan centre of effort, as the bow would present less resistance to side movement than the stern and rudder, small craft with the board well forward carry larger headsails, thus the C of E is transferred forward.</pre>

Thanks for the comments, it pretty much concurs with what I thought. But seeing the unusual positions left me wondering if my understanding was faulty... I'm glad then, that it's not only me.
