Hi

I have searched on the forum but cant seem to find any reference to this engine but does anyone know about the availability of parts for a Daf 615 engine and better still can anyone date an engine by the engine number??

Thanks in advance its just i am toying with the idea of purchasing this Dutch steel cruiser and dont want any future parts availability problems because parts back up for our recently sold Penta engined cruiser was excellent.

The DAF 615 is a truck engine and as such, commercial vehicle outlets are a more likely (and much cheaper) source of parts other than the marinising bits. Thousands of Dutch steel mobos use the 575/615 motor.

Hi

Thanks for info, i just cant seem to find on line supplier of parts and was afraid in case some parts are obsolete, the engine is a 615 with engine number E20379 and is supposed to be 1993, just be doing some internet searches the 575 engine seems to be on the go since 1957

I would steer clear of DAF marine motors.

Aad Goudriaan closed the operation down in the 90's and did a complete slash and burn on the whole marine operation patterns, parts, the suppliers and dealer network were all disposed of at the stroke of a pen, which is one of the reasons he became prisident of DAF trucks.

Base engine parts (which are the bits that represent few problems) are freely available, however the marine bits which are subject to the marine aging process cannot be obtained.

The 575 is close relative of Leyland OE 370 i.e licenced design, was all nice stuff, but no longer comfortable to live with on the basis of parts availability.
