Ok we all dread these going wrong, so do you check them or replace , and has anyone purchased them.

Once on a twin engined boat we pulled both risers. One was fine, the other shot. Just pull them, have new gaskets ready, and check after a clean and a tap-tap trial. You'll know if it's end of life or not.

Assuming it’s on shafts ? Can you borescope it through a 10 mm probe hole ?
Or just un bolt it at the turbo flange and take it off for full examination.

Assuming your boat is a shaft drive f42/5 the exhaust horn scenario is related to the stern drive boats with DPH drive .

The shaft drive version sometimes have a cast black elbow which corrodes away , I’d guess you have stainless hi rise elbow which last many years .
