I keep hearing about these, but have never seen anything concrete.

Anyone know for sure? If so, when?

Does anyone with experience have any concerns that they might be over-pushing the engine?

I have been told by Westline that they are coming. In fact, I have been told they have seen a pair not too far from the workshop - but you didn't here that from me!

Yep, definately on the way. Wouldn't fancy one myself, about the same reliability as a F1 engine I should think.

What capacity is the D4?

3.7 litres, 225 cubic inches, so a 300 hp engine is definitely the wrong side of the old 'less than 1 hp per cubic inch' rule....

Is that just for marine engines then? BMW have a very reliable 3.0 Diesel making 310Hp

Perhaps - do you often set off in your car and go for hours with the RPM at redline-200rpm? Folks like Pascoe suggest that ratio - but logic would suggest that the more cubic inches you have generating the same power, the less stressed the engine.
