D2-55 hose replacement - strange heat exchanger to exhaust elbow affair?

I am eyeing up the jobs for winter. Last year I replaced all the fuel lines (horrible rusting armoured ones) and this year I want to replace the water hoses on my D2 55 A engine, all of which I am pretty sure are original, so north of 20 years old.

The pipe from the fresh water pump to the heat exchanger I can get at parts4engines here: https://parts4engines.com/collectio...ducts/volvo-penta-d2-55-silicone-coolant-hose, so that is nice and easy.

Its the hoses at the back of the engine that I am worried about and would like to replace. We have this Vetus antisiphon valve circled below in red between the heat exchanger and the exhaust elbow. Note the two yellow marked hoses, one going to the exhaust elbow, one to the heat exchanger. This is where things get a little odd (perhaps? maybe this is normal?). These hoses go to a connecting piece of copper (?) pipe (marked in green below), where these are clamped on with (single!) hose clips, that connects on to the original VP hose (marked in purple).

The one that comes from the heat exchanger is probably the most alarming, as the cut on the pipe looks particularly iffy.

What should I replace these with? Two, single hoses, without the strange copper pipe affair, would seem the sensible option? It wouldn't need to be an expensive moulded VP one either?

I had a great response from Parts4Engines. So it would appear that I can replace the hoses with, err, just hoses. That reducer, number 13 is the only bit I might need to buy in (which I think is just a hose reducer 25 / 28 mm??).

I have attached a diagram from volvo database to show how this set up should look. I believe you would need to get rid of the copper pipe and have just the hose going to the elbow and heat exchanger.

I have included part numbers also as we do not stock this kit as they picture it.

Hope this helps
