We are planing to self isolate on our boat. We should be 100% self sufficient and can carry 12 months of food, if we can get it. We would rather be on the boat than stuck in a two room flat.

Is there anyone here who can explain why every government thinks we can develop a vaccine for this RNA virus when no one has been able to do it for AIDS which is also an RNA virus?

Measles is an RNA virus and the vaccine is very effective.

I think a lot of the restrictions on activities is to keep the usual influx of A&E casualties to a minimum and reduce the pressure on the NHS and emergency services.

The usual load of road traffic accidents is going to be a huge drain on emergency services. Hence keep journeys to a minimum. And you don’t want to burden coast guards, RNLI, mountain rescue, etc, at this time either. So outdoor activities are also a no-no.

Quite. ICUs are something like 80% full under normal conditions, so just a small spike in demand will swamp capacity.
