Hi chaps
In the process of cutting out my fiberglass dash to accomodate a radio, is it ok to use a jig saw with a fine blade or will the gell coat chip !!

You can get special blades for cutting through Fibreglass but they are VERY expensive

Not so much the blade chipping the gel coat, it's when the blade gets stuck and brings the jig saw crashing into the gel coat.

I cut mine with a hand saw, only took 10 mins or so. Cut a few pilot holes with a drill and joined them up with a saw.

loads of masking tape will protect the gel coat. I use a blade designed for metal with fine teeth and run the saw at a good high speed applying little or no pressure.
