Cutless bearing and propeller tip clearance

My new-to-me boat has greater than ideal propeller shaft extension beyond the cutless bearing, c. 48mm with a 19mm shaft so 2.5x shaft diameter.
I could easily shorten the shaft at the inboard end but this would reduce the already minimal propeller tip clearance from the current 36mm (12"prop = 304mm diameter so clearance = 0.12 of diameter).

Obviously with the current prop (which I'm not about to change) I can't meet the common recommendations for both shaft extension and tip clearance.
Should I leave as is or reduce tip clearance to shorten the shaft extension, that is the question? I'm favouring leave as is (I've a new cutless to fit).

The shaft length between shaft clamp and propeller boss is only 650mm so despite being only 19mm it is rigid.
Thanks.
