Hi
I've a 40mm shaft and a cutlass bearing with int diameter of 1.625 inches. The cutlass is therefore as i calculate it slightly large. Is that ok?. Or will there be problems. ( its a new tube fitted with that cutlass ) old shaft

New shaft bearing for a 40.00mm shaft from us runs an ID of around 40.22-40.32, depending on wall thickness.
At 1.625" or 41.275mm you're well over where we would consider the bearing needs replacement at 41.00mm

No not OK, you will almost certainly experience more rapid bearing wear and noise/vibration
