Curved track problem

I recall a question about this recently but can't find it.

My boat has 25mm track (make no longer made). Barton cars fitted just fine. I bought a Barton spinnaker pole ring for my new whisker pole but the track on the front of the mast is curved so it won't fit on. I think it will if I get someone to gring a bit off the inside of the part that goes inside the track grooves but I'm reluctant to wreck a £35 item if it doesn't work.

Any ideas folks?

Is it a Kemp (now Selden) mast? After a lot of head scratching I got a fitting to suit our mast track from the local Selden Masts agent.
