Cuprotect not that great then?

Our experience with copper epoxy based antifouling sustems is poor. We had Cornish maid 'done' with one of the systems which failed spectacularly in the first season. The company re-applied it, but we still got weed, although the boat yard said it wasn't really much worse than normal antifouling.

So we changed to Micron. Which was fine. Although to be fair, there are people who have found Coppercoat very effective. Must be very application-sensitive perhaps.

My personal opinion, FWIW is that if these antifouling systems were really consistently good, then the big paint manufacurers would be making them. And until that time comes, I will be happier with the annual applications.

I ve had copper coat on for 3.5 years now and have to say it works well. A bit of thinish weed around the water line but no shellfish! One thing to note is that the more the boat is used the less the fouling. The boat has not been out for a scrub for 18 months. I would use it again - I have no connection with copper coat.

Anti-Foul ....

Well as some know - I haven't antifouled my boat for a number of years .... and when she was lifted to truck out to Latvia .... a good power-wash off got rid of all. With about 5 yrs in the water ... she had a lot of weed and slime around waterline ---- the "beard". Going deeper she had areas of small barnacles especially aft where hull flattens out.

For launch next year out here ... she will be antifouled. Local Repair yard has kindly offered me a supply ...... It's red base with Bio-Cide additive .... mix and apply. Boat must be launched within 20 hrs.
Now I've seen the other boats and it works .... so its the first AF I've seen work for years !!
