We were not able to start our SB engine (6BTA 250hp, CPL 1322, a Darlington UK built version) and due to nothing happening, not even a click, & suspect the solenoids after a preliminary check of electrics. However these version of the Cummins have two solenoids, one on the side of the block below the starter, and the normal one (with the heavy duty cables) on the starter. The lower one's are shown in the manual and called "magnetic switches" but the reference numbers are for a solenoid, which we've sourced but yet to put on. However I haven't a clue why you would need a second solenoid - any ideas what it does?

Just had exactly the same problem on a Yanmar.
Simple quick job.
Yanmar wanted an arm and two legs.
Ebay clone has sorted the problem.
