Hi everybody,

I'm from Germany and round here no one can help me with my Problem, so maybe I can get some informations from you.

I just rebuilding my cummins marine engine 12v 6bta 5.9 m2 cpl970 (ESN: 44565688, build in 1989) with a denso EP-9 (3919762) injection pump. I already got a new gen2 cylinder head with 7mm injection holes. Therefore my old injectors with the 9mm nozzles didn't fit anymore.

Has anyone an idea which nozzles will fit in my new head? I would prefer to reuse my old injector-bodys and only change the nozzles.
The genuine injectors have the part number: 3802168

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Chris,

Simple answer is yes, CPL 970 has as you say Denso EP9 pump but has Bosch injectors.

Bosch have eliminated much of their historic data in the last two years and pump shops tend to struggle.

Give me a couple of days and I will go through old hard copy stuff and get you the Bosch part # of correct 7mm nozzles for your old injector bodies.

Good luck

Hi Latestarter1,

sounds great. thanks for your effort.
I also made that experience. I contacted a few shops but either they suggested me to buy complete new injectors or they were unable to help me.

Best regards
Chris

Hi Chris,

Here we go!

7mm injector assembly for CPL 970 Cummins part # 3919956 Bosch part # 0432133876
7mm injector tip for CPL 970...........Cummins part # 3919348 Bosch part # 0433175039

Nozzle opening pressure 262-270 Bar

IF you are struggling with Bosch pump shop, trying to make them do it according to my books I have 6 X 7mm part # 3919956 sitting around on the shelf somewhere, also a Denso EP9 pump and these are real hard to locate these days.

If I can find the injectors and they test OK, tell me what Bosch shop are charging to put new tips on your injectors and you can have the 6 injectors for half that plus some postage. No return core required, wife would not let me collect any more junk!

Remember 7mm injectors can be used in 9mm head using the correct top hat copper adapter washers if you have second engine.

Good luck

Hi Latestarter1,

big thanks for your help. I first want to look around here in Germany to get these tips. I will let you know what the shops are charging for the tips and the assembly work. So maybe I refer to your offer. Thanks for that.

The 7mm to 9mm adapters I already have, these were included in the 'upper gasket set'.

Best regards
Chris

Hi everyone,

after a few weeks now I got my injectors back from the shop. The tips proposed from Latestarter1 are the right one, but the shop told me that there occurred some problems. They needed to plug a new disc and spindle in the injector because the old ones dont fit in the new combination.

At least I paid 360€ (approx. 410$) for the six tips and 160€ (approx. 180$) for assembling and the consumables.
Now I want to put the engine on a dyno test to see how it performs.

Best regards
Chris
