Some of you may not know that Cultybragan is closing . An end to an era .

It was there that I first got interested in boats as a member of Glasgow Uni OTC . The loos there were unique. You could make paper boats out of news paper and float them alight down stream to the consternation of other occupants . /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Good old Cultybraggan ? Well i can remember being there in the late sixties / early seventies with the school CCF.

All I can remember is freezing cold Nissan huts and stealing coal to keep the brazier type fires.

Oh - and the assualt course.

Hmm decided that the armed forces were definately not for me!

Joined the Naval section as soon as I could!
One over in Penicuik wasn'tso bad tho'

Dont know that place, but have come across loos like that before!

A lot have people have launched paper boats down them, and some have actually set the boats on fire before launching - sure is a quick way of getting people out of the loo! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yes, I too remember the delights of Cultybraggan: the cold, the illicit sources of fuel, and the "pipes of pan" loos. No doubt it will also be remembered by a few of the Italian PoWs for whom it was - I believe - originally built. Its closure is probably somewhat overdue.
