Had one for several years to charge the boat batteries at home but now although it lights up it delivers no voltage at the crocodile clips. I did drop it recently onto a hard floor bu only from a couple of feet. I also have no voltage across the PZ and PI points inside the low voltage end. A write off? Should I replace it with the same model?

Thanks - I already had the manual. The Australian's video is hard to follow and does not say what to do if there is no output. He does not seem to like what's inside!

So what should I now buy - another CTEK MXS 5.0?

Now is the time to reassess your needs.

The MSX 5.0 has a relatively low current output. Would a charger with a bigger max output be useful.
There appear to be two versions of the MXS 5.0 now !

Would a charger with a setting specifically for "stop/start" batteries be useful

OTOH would a charger with the features of a marine charger, should you want to use it on the boat , be useful

Thanks VicS

I use 43 AH car batteries charged from the alternator and if I'm not going to be using the boat for a few weeks (and over winter) I take them home and use the CTEK. I also use the CTEK for my car which has a 61AH battery. So which replacement CTEC do you advise? Meanwhile I've emailed CTEC for advice on the dead charger but don't expect it to be fixable.
