Hi everyone I'm hoping someone can answer a question for me please?

I am in the process of moving the toilet inlet and outlets and intend using CT 1 as the sealant for the skin through hull fittings.

My question is on the CT 1 tube it states it is not suitable for use with Alkyd paints?
So my question is as I also intend to coat skin fittings outside with Cruising Performer Antifouling when doing the hull before launch, is this antifouling classed as Alkyd paint?

If so could it be first primed with something to protect the sealant?

Failing that has anybody used this sealant and then antifouled afterwards with no issues to the skin fitting sealant?

Thanks for any replies
Philip

Even if they are alykd -based the caveat is surely only about their adhesion to the CT1, so you are only talking about an extremely fine line of sealant around the fitting if you mask it and clean the excess off with solvent after installation.

I'd suggest this is simply a non-issue.

I used OB1 from Screwfix (which I think is the same thing) for some fairing around the keel/hull joint. No problem with the antifoul.

I don't think most antifouls are alkyd-based.

Thanks for your input chaps, I was only concerned that if the antifouling paint was alkyd based, the paint might effect the sealing qualities under or around the skin fitting.
Probably should not be a concern then given the amount in possible contact with any antifouling.

It would be interesting though to hear from anybody that has used it in this application in the past (re skin fittings)with any possible good or bad results.

Cheers
Philip

I've used CT1 for skin fittings as well as for fairing keel/hull joint. Many years of antifouling has had no effect on the CT1 and vice versa. As RJJ says OB1 is the same as the 'original' CT1.
