I needed a new mast insert for a Sailman 4000 batten end fitting, not a huge item but difficult to get without buying the whole fitting. Spoke to Crusader at the Boat Show who said they'd see what they could do. The bit arrived a couple of days later with Crusader's compliments. Great service, brings back faith in human nature.

Although I am pleased that someone is getting good service from Crusader I feel bound to tell forumites, in the interest of "balanced reporting" if nothing else, that my own experience was not so positive. A few years ago I ordered a stack-pack from them, in early February, with an estimate of delivery in 6 weeks. After 8 weeks I contacted them and asked them when it would be ready - no-one knew. After 12 weeks and several further courteous enquiries from me about the possibility of progress (no communications from them) I got fed-up with waiting for it and with being fobbed off on the phone so cancelled my order.

I've had excellent service from Crusader on both occasions when I've bought sails from them - the first time a genoa for a McGregor 26 and most recently a cruising chute for a Feeling 32. When I ordered the latter, only Crusader (of all the sailmakers at the Southampton Boat Show) offered a chute at a good price AND had the correct dimensions for the Feeling 32 on their system. They completed the sail very promptly and it was very successful in its first season (last year) despite the dodgy weather.
